1.About these terms
These terms apply to everyone who uses building-jobs.co.uk (“the site”), whether browsing, as a member or as someone posting a job. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Section 6, posting a job, contains the posting terms you agree to when you submit a job. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.
2.What BuildingJobs is
BuildingJobs publishes two lists across 17+ cities in the UK:
- Live jobs: work that needs a trade now, posted by homeowners, landlords, contractors and businesses.
- Upcoming projects: building that is planned or approved but not yet started, compiled from public planning and procurement sources.
Anyone can browse both lists for free. Membership unlocks the detail: contact details on live jobs, and the client, documents and sources on upcoming projects.
BuildingJobs is an information service. We are not a party to any work, quote, contract or payment between people who find each other through the site, and we do not vet the people who post or apply for jobs. Use your normal judgement: check credentials, get things in writing and never pay a deposit to someone you have not verified.
3.Your account
- You must be at least 16 and give accurate information when you join.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account. Sharing a membership, or scraping or redistributing member-only detail, is not allowed.
- Tell us straight away at hello@building-jobs.co.uk if you think someone else has used your account.
4.Membership and payment
- Plans. Free, Basic (one city) and Premium (all 17 named cities) are described on the pricing page. Prices include VAT where it applies.
- Billing. Basic and Premium are billed monthly in advance. Payments are taken by Stripe; we do not see or store your full card details.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your account. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew. We do not refund part months.
- Changing plan. You can move between plans at any time. Changes take effect at your next billing date. On Basic you can change your chosen city once a month.
- Price changes. If we change the price of your plan we will email you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before then.
- Consumer cancellation right. If you are a consumer you have 14 days from taking a paid plan to cancel and receive a refund, less a proportionate charge for the days you have had access.
5.Acceptable use
You must not:
- post anything that is false, misleading, unlawful, discriminatory, abusive or that infringes someone else's rights;
- use the site to send unsolicited marketing or to harvest contact details;
- copy, scrape, resell or republish content from the site, including member-only detail, other than for your own use in finding or offering work;
- attempt to bypass membership gating, security or rate limits, or interfere with the site's operation;
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you work for.
We may remove content, suspend or close accounts and refuse service where these terms are broken.
6.Posting a job
Posting a job is free. When you post a job you agree that:
- The job is real and you are the person who needs the work done, or are authorised to post on their behalf.
- The public summary is public. Everyone can see the title, trade, city, postcode district, job type, start, posting date and your public summary. Do not put names, phone numbers, email addresses or exact addresses in the public summary. We may edit or remove a summary that does.
- The rest is for members. Your full description, pay and contact details are shown only to members who open your job. We show them so members can contact you about the work; they must not be used for anything else.
- Checks. We check posts before they go live and may decline, edit or remove a post that breaks these terms, duplicates another post or looks like spam.
- Your responsibilities. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your post, including complying with employment, equality, health and safety and advertising law. Jobs must not discriminate unlawfully.
- Closing. You can edit or close your job at any time. We may close jobs that have been open for more than 60 days without being updated, and will email you first.
- Licence. You give us permission to publish your post on the site and in our emails and Top Picks for as long as it is open.
7.Our content and sources
Upcoming projects are compiled from public sources and organised by our team. Estimated values, likely trades and timing are BuildingJobs analysis, not confirmed tender information. We work hard to keep listings accurate and current, but we cannot guarantee that every record is complete or up to date, and you should confirm details with the source before relying on them.
The site's design, text, illustrations, software and the way our listings are organised belong to BuildingJobs or our licensors. Public source material remains the property of its original publisher. You may use the site for your own business of finding or offering work, and may not copy or reuse our content for anything else without permission.
If a listing about you or your organisation is wrong or you would like it removed, see our privacy policy or email hello@building-jobs.co.uk.
8.Liability
We provide the site with reasonable care and skill, but it is an information service and is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free, that any listing is accurate, or that using the site will result in work or a hire.
We are not liable for any loss arising from work, contracts or payments between users, from reliance on a listing, or for any indirect or consequential loss or loss of profit. Our total liability to you for anything arising from the site in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you have paid us in that period.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
9.Ending your use of the site
You can close your account at any time from your account settings or by emailing us. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and may withdraw or change the site with reasonable notice. Sections on content, liability and general terms continue to apply after your account is closed.
10.General
- Changes. We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect.
- Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
- Contact. Email hello@building-jobs.co.uk or use the contact page.
